The Muay Thai Festival is held every year in Ayutthaya where it celebrates Thai folk hero Nai Khanom Tom. Muay Thai fighters from around the world come to pay homage to their teachers in a Wai Khru ceremony and also to pay respect in front of the image of the legendary Muay Thai boxer. During the festival there are boxing matches where contenders compete for the Nai Khanom Tom belt. The weekend finishes with a spectacular elephant battle scene. The festival is held every year around Thai Boxer’s Day which is on 17th March.
