Continuing in the trend of themed shopping malls in Thailand comes The Venezia Hua Hin in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. On the surface it seemed quite a good idea of building a replica of Venice in Thailand complete with St. Mark’s Square, the Bell Tower and even gondolas on a canal. For some tourists, it may be an interesting place to spend an hour taking selfies and pretending you are elsewhere in the world. But, as a shopping mall, it is very lacking in interesting shops. During my visit, not many of them were open and the ones that were, didn’t have any customers. I have heard that The Venezia is now charging a 50 Baht entrance fee which will probably deter more even people. Who wants to pay to go shopping? There are some interesting attractions on the premises, like 3D Museum and Upside Down house, but these too have entrance fees.
