The Thai-Mon people in Phra Pradaeng district of Samut Prakan have their own culture and way of life. They even have a different language though I don’t think it is spoken much these days, if at all, among the younger generation. But, they do celebrate their own festivals. The pictures on this page show some of the traditions done during Songkran. As well as their traditional Mon clothes, you can see the practice of releasing fish and birds to make merit. This tradition was brought to Thailand by the Mon people. You will also be able watch them play Saba, which is a traditional courtship game.
