Several times a year, a mini light and sound show is held at the Phimai Historical Park in Nakhon Ratchasima. This is in Northeastern Thailand. These free shows are really a taster of the main event that is usually held at the end of the year in November. As you arrive at the park, you are invited to take part in a Bai Si ceremony where elders will bless visitors by tying a string around their wrists. The main event is the light and sound show which depicts the former glory days of Phimai city and the Khmer civilisation. This is recreated through traditional dances and performances that depict the local way of life at that time. There is also a Muay Thai boxing performance. The backdrop to all of this are the beautiful ancient ruins which are lit up during the show.
