Flora Park at Play La Ploen

Play La Ploen

The Play La Ploen boutique resort and adventure camp in Buriram was set up as a kind of outdoor classroom to enrich the knowledge of students. Indeed, the name of the resort comes from the English phrase “play and learn”. There are a number of different zones that you can visit, but today I toured the colourful Flora Park. Their aim of this section is to educate tourists and local communities about exotic plants and flowers. The floral displays are shown in six different greenhouses.

The Kee Resort and Spa in Phuket

The Kee Resort & Spa

The Kee Resort and Spa on Patong Beach in Phuket probably has one of the best locations for both the Walking Street on Bangla Road and the beach itself. It is perfect for people who want to enjoy the nightlife, though maybe not so much for people who want it quiet. The beach is about a five minute walk or so from the hotel and is one of the most popular sections. I found the large lagoon in the resort, with its own pool bar, to be so pleasent that you don’t really need to leave that much. The room that I stayed in even had direct access from the balcony door straight into the pool.

Veranda Resort & Spa in Cha-am

Veranda Resort & Spa in Cha-am

Veranda Resort and Spa is on the Southern end of Cha-am Beach in Phetchaburi Province in Thailand. It’s about ten minutes south of Cha-am and 20 minutes north of Hua Hin. It’s great for people who want the quiet life away from the crowds. However, public transport is not ideal if you don’t have your own car. There are no shops near the hotel but there are some restaurants about a ten minute walk away. The hotel has direct access onto a quiet public beach. The room I had was comfortably decorated with a balcony view of the pool.

Hello Kitty Resort in Loei

IMG_7698

The latest themed resort to open in Thailand is Kitty Resort in Phu Rua district of Loei. The resort is obviously aimed at the many fans of the famed Hello Kitty character. If pink isn’t your favourite colour then you probably wouldn’t want to stay here. Everything is pink from the bed sheets and walls of the rooms to the coffe shop and even the driveway. Prices for the resort start at 1,500 Baht per night for the tents to 2,500 Baht for the cabins. If you just want to visit the gardens to take selfies, then entrance fee is 20 Baht. Please note, the owners of the resort don’t seem to have a license from Sanrio to use the images of Hello Kitty which is why they are calling it Kitty Resort.

For lovers of the cartoon characters from The Flintstones there is a perfect resort for you to stay in Ratchaburi province. It’s called Suan Peung Resort and many of the “bungalows” are shaped like the characters from The Flintstones. You can now stay the night in Fred, Wilma, Barney and Betty. For families, the best place to stay is in Dino which has several rooms including one upstairs in the head. The rooms don’t come cheap, but they do go fast.
