“Forest in the City” in Bangkok

IMG_6822

These days it is hard to find a green patch of land in cities like Bangkok. Which is why it is good to see corporations like PTT, a Thai state-owned oil and gas company, with a “Green Roadmap”. Their first “forest in the city” plot is in an urban area of Prawet district in Eastern Bangkok. The objectives of this 4.74 acre plot are to increase green spaces for city dwellers and to promote afforestation as the green symbol for Bangkokians. People can go and observe the forest from a skywalk and from the top of a 23 meter high observation tower. This way they don’t disturb the 250 native plant species in the forest below. “The Metro – Forest Project” (โครงการป่าในกรุง ปตท.) is open ever day, except Mondays, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free.

Is there any public transpo aside from taxi, going to this place? If not, then can you advise me on how to get there? Thanks.

It is a quiet road. I didn’t see any signs of public transport. It would be best to go by taxi if you don’t have your own transport. The GPS coordinates are at the bottom of the page. Just enter them in Google Maps on your smart phone.
