Phra Buddha Sihing Songkran Parade

Phra Buddhasihing Songkran Parade

On the 12th April, which is the day before the start of Songkran, the famous Phra Buddhasihing image is taken from the National Museum for a parade around Bangkok. The parade starts at 8 a.m. and first goes to Wong Wian Yai in Thonburi where it arrives at 10 a.m. Here people can pray and pay respect to the Buddha by spraying it with perfumed water. Next it arrives at Satichai Prakan Park on Phra Athit Road at 1 p.m. It then stops in front of Wat Chana Songkram near Khao San Road. The final destination is Sanam Luang where it arrives about nine hours after it first left the national museum. It now stays here for three days. On the morning of 13th April there is a mass alms giving here.
